Zamira Gibb

Zamira Gibb is an ARC DECRA Fellow working in Laureate Professor John Aitken’s PRC in Reproductive Science at the University of Newcastle. Zamira’s primary research focus is stallion fertility, and she divides her time between improving in vitro breeding efficiency for the AI-centric breeds via novel semen storage technologies, and in vivo fertility for the naturally-bred thoroughbred through management practices and the development of diagnostic tests. As the leader of the PRC’s equine fertility research group, Zamira has attracted over $4 million in government and industry funding, and supervises numerous PhD and Honours students. Zamira has received numerous academic awards and has delivered over 20 invited presentations including the plenary keynote lecture at the International Symposium on Stallion Reproduction. By translating research into practical commercial applications, Zamira provides a conduit between producers and researchers to provide solutions to real world industry problems.
